Shauna L. Gibbons completed her Juris Doctor at the University of Alberta Law School in 2015. As part of her degree, Shauna received an International Certificate in Effective Representation in Mediation from Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Germany in 2013.
Prior to law school, Shauna received a Certificate in Youth Ministry from the United Church of Canada, Naramata, British Columbia in 1991 and a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction from the University of Alberta in 1996.
Shauna has had several years of experience in utilities regulation within the Alberta Utilities Commission and in private practice. Shauna’s work includes providing clients general information about energy law, utilities regulation, bylaw litigation and assisting clients on mitigating risks through effective compliance strategies. She has represented clients in all aspects of regulatory compliance through mediations, negotiations, and contract development specific to regulatory compliance. Shauna’s litigation practice includes multiple appearances at the tribunal, Court of Queen’s Bench, and Court of Appeal levels.
Shauna advocates effectively for her clients as a lawyer committed to assisting her clients to understand the complexities of administrative law in a human-focused approach. She strives to find practical and cost-effective solutions that are timely and meaningful.
Associations and Interests
Shauna has been a member of the Law Society of Alberta since 2016. Shauna is a member of the Canadian Bar Association (Administrative Law Section) and she is also a member of the Women In Power network for energy and utilities lawyers. Shauna is a “movie buff”, has traveled extensively internationally, and maintains a physically active lifestyle.
